A strategic plan should function as a guidepost for all of the activities in which a business or association and its staff and volunteers engage. It should be directional and strategic in nature, not operational and tactical. But, the most critical element is the understanding and ownership of those to which it applies. That means all of us.
As we've previously discussed, after a great deal of staff, volunteer and member input, the Strategic Planning Committee recently engaged in a planning retreat and discussed priorities and critical elements of the association's next plan. The input from the retreat and from staff was utilized to create the first draft of the plan, which you can see here.
This Friday at 10am, we will meet via Zoom to discuss the draft, how it came to be and what it means moving forward, and get your feedback and questions. Again, the plan only serves the organization well if we all understand what it means and how we can contribute to fulfilling the plan.
You should have already received Zoom information for the meeting. This meeting will take less than an hour and we will not be doing any group work or breakouts during this session.
Here are some other reference materials that you might find interesting or useful in reviewing the plan:
This document adds context to the plan draft language. Tactical action items that the committee discussed are inserted into the strategies of the final draft. These are not part of the plan and are not directives, but provide context related to the committee discussions that led to the final language in the draft.
