Last week, football fans were horrified and saddened to see Damar Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills collapse on the playing field during a game as he suffered from cardiac arrest after a big hit. He was resuscitated on the field by medical staff and rushed to the hospital where he was revived once again before laying in intensive care for days. The good news is that his recovery has gone very well by all reports, largely due to the fast action by medical responders.
Did you know that every two years, Texas REALTORS® hosts a CPR training and certification course, which includes training on the use of an AED, or automated external defibrillator, which is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest? And did you know that we have an AED that is located in the East Break Room, just inside the door? We currently have seven staff members who are certified through this program:
Josh Banks
Quincy Jackson
Valerie Horne
Jon Houser
Robin Harris
Gregory Lang
Moe Rodriguez
Thank you to this team for your commitment to the health and safety of others.
This certification cycle expires in December, so we'll host another training and certification in November. Texas REALTORS® will cover the cost for any staff to participate.
Some knowledge of CPR can literally mean the difference between life and death. In the meantime, you can learn some of the basics of CPR through these American Heart Association resources:
