Recently, Texas REALTORS® conducted a member survey to kick off the association's biennial strategic planning process. The survey gauges member satisfaction and sentiments on a broad array of topics to help guide our future efforts and priorities. The results represent the input and feedback of more than 3,000 members.
Here are some of the key takeaways:
Overall, respondents to this online survey represented a diverse group of members who are both satisfied with the services Texas REALTORS® provide and trust Texas REALTORS® to represent their best interests.
Demographically, we received a great response across gender, age, race, and geography. Additionally, this group represented a balance of involved and not very involved members. In terms of years working in real estate, about half the respondents have worked in real estate for ten years or fewer. Additionally, 65% of respondents had never served in any volunteer role. This demonstrates that our response came from a variety of members.
When it comes to members’ overall perception of the state association, we found that members largely have a positive opinion. 82% of respondents indicated they had a positive or somewhat positive view of Texas REALTORS®. We find this positive impression and satisfaction to be true in previous surveys as well:
July 2021 – 91% satisfied with services
December 2020 – 85% satisfied with services
Top Five Valuable Services:
ZipForm – 72%
Texas REALTORS® Forms Library – 65%
Code of ethics and professional standards enforcements – 62%
Legal information and risk reduction tools – 58%
CE, professional development, and designation courses – 52%
Members are happy with the frequency of communication and the information provided to them, with 83% indicating Texas REALTORS® communicates just the right amount and 66% indicating they find all or a majority of the information valuable.
Top Three Threats:
Business models that eliminate or devalue the Realtor® - 47%
Unprofessional or unqualified agents – 45%
Shortage of housing inventory – 36%
With these key threats in mind, it’s not surprising to see code of ethics and professional standards as one of the most valuable services. Additionally, we found that members gave Texas REALTORS® just an average rating when it comes to promoting the value of using a REALTOR® (Q12). This is clearly a concern of members when it comes to the future of the real estate industry and presents an opportunity for Texas REALTORS®.
When it comes to participation in TREPAC, only 9% indicated they don’t plan to invest. Those who were less familiar with TREPAC have also worked in real estate for fewer years. Overall, a third of respondents were interested in learning more about TREPAC. This interest was also notable among those members who are newer to real estate.
Members agree most of the time with the positions Texas REALTORS® take on their behalf.
